The Pieve di San Giovanni Battista is an important historical testimony within the town of Sovicille. You are in front of a sandstone church, flanked by a beautiful bell tower which can be seen from the road in the Ponte allo Spino hamlet.
Don't let its austere simplicity fool you, because entering the driveway you will reach the remains of a truly suggestive small cloister! The interior of the building is very elegant and the space is divided into three naves.
The Parish Church of S. Giovanni Battista in Ponte allo Spino is perhaps one of the most beautiful Romanesque parish churches in all of Siena (a pity that it is closed, even if it can be admired from the outside).
