The Pieve di San Giovanni Battista is an important historical testimony within the town of Sovicille. You are in front of a sandstone church, flanked by a beautiful bell tower which can be seen from the road in the Ponte allo Spino hamlet.

Don't let its austere simplicity fool you, because entering the driveway you will reach the remains of a truly suggestive small cloister! The interior of the building is very elegant and the space is divided into three naves.

Mentioned since 1189, it is one of the most interesting Romanesque buildings in the Sienese area. The parish church has three naves divided by cruciform pillars and ended by apses. The Lombard-style bell tower is open with mullioned windows and mullioned windows. Inside there is a table by Bartolomeo Neroni, known as il Riccio (16th century), with the Madonna and Child, angels, saints and a bishop.
