Today's Oelsnitz town hall on the south side of the market square was built between 1861 and 1864 and replaced the previous building that was destroyed in the town fire in 1859 and was still standing in the middle of the market square. A 43 meter high town hall tower belongs to the building. A clock mechanism from the company Johann Manhardt from Munich was already installed in the town hall tower during construction in 1863. In 1917 a ring of steel bells was installed. Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rathaus_Oelsnitz
