It is an awesome place! Both by the dam itself and its engineering, but also by the natural beauty of the site. A real breath of air and nature.

The Barrage de Nisramont has been damming the Ourthe since 1958 (construction started in 1953). The structure is 116 meters long and 16 meters high. The dam essentially serves as a drinking water reservoir and also for electricity generation. There are some nice hiking trails here.

An impressive place for the dam itself but also for the beauty of the site in its entirety. A must see !

The dam is impressive with its 116 m long and 16 m high. Very subtly lit at night, it then plunges you into an almost magical world. It was built to supply drinking water to the entire region. As for the lake, it contains 3 million m³ and is fed by the Western Ourthe and the Eastern Ourthe.
From a technical point of view, there is a hydroelectric power station, a purification station and an audio-visual room on site.
If you are a fan of walking, you can take the 14-kilometer promenade, a circuit that goes completely around this 47-hectare lake.
Fishing is permitted as is kayaking and canoeing.
