There was already a moated castle called "Haus Beck" in the 15th century. The current building was built between 1766 and 1771 by the most famous Westphalian baroque architect Johann Conrad Schlaun as a pleasure palace (Maison de Plaisance).

Haus Beck served as a spirits factory for a long time and was passed on to the Metternich family in 1850. In 1966, the Kuchenbäcker family acquired the badly dilapidated complex and began the gradual restoration of the castle and its outbuildings. In order to finance the restoration work, they decided on an unusual approach: the creation of a commercial amusement park.

Although an amusement park in a listed castle may seem strange at first, alternative uses such as a hotel would have required more significant interventions. Despite its new use, Haus Beck is now a castle building that has been preserved in almost unchanged form and furnishings.
