With two millennia of history, the Pont du Gard stands above the Gardon valley. It testifies to the strength and sophistication of the Roman Empire.

From this lookout you can admire its imposing size and complex structure which continues to fascinate visitors. Accessible and offering a panoramic view of the river and the bridge, this site allows you to appreciate the three levels of the bridge in their original design, in contrast to the pont cochère added later in the 18th century.

The viewpoint is easy to reach and from here you have a wonderful view of the Gardon and the Pont du Gard. From this side you can see all three floors of the Pont du Gard in their original state without the carriage bridge on the other side, which was subsequently added in the 18th century.

The 2000 year old Pont du Gard proudly overlooks the winding Gardon valley. It is an eternal testament to the power of the Roman Empire and has survived the centuries largely unscathed.
