Timeline:
The "Holy Mountain" is a mound of unknown origin. Two assumptions: The first assumption says that the pile of earth is a barrow from the Hallstatt period around 750 BC. The second: it is a local mountain from the 11th century. Both possibilities have already been proven, but not proven with certainty. What is certain, however, is that in 1743 the four towns of Staatz, Kautendorf, Enzersdorf and Ernsdorf decided on what was once known as “a long, deserted Waßenhügel”, “to increase the glory of God and the frequent consideration of the bitterest suffering and death of the Lord “to build a Calvary. In 2002, under the direction of Karl Lapes, the entire complex was renovated and the statues were renovated by the stonemason Lambert Eisenhut.
