    The St. Ewalds Church is located directly on the bike path on the outskirts towards Pruchten.

    A nice to look at church that is open and offers interesting photo opportunities inside. You can also linger and pause briefly in the church.

        The St. Ewalds Church in Bodstedt is a former pilgrimage chapel from the 15th century in the Bodstedt district of the Western Pomeranian community of Fuhlendorf.

        A church in Bodstedt was mentioned for the first time in 1388. The current building dates from the 15th century: after 1465 it was built as a pilgrimage chapel for St. Ewald (Low German form for St. Theobald von Thann). This happened after a rescue from distress in January 1457. Bodstedt is attested as a place of pilgrimage between 1474 and 1508.

        In 1785 the western yoke with the arched window was added.
        Only the nine-cornered granite baptismal font and the filigree wall painting on the north side have been preserved from the medieval furnishings. The rest of the inventory is just as baroque as the beamed ceiling decorated with acanthus paintings.

        The pulpit adorned with biblical scenes and images of the evangelists, the desk angel and a panel with the baptism of Jesus date from the late 17th century. The altarpiece from 1741 shows a picture of the Lord's Supper and above as a group of figures the Transfiguration: Jesus between Moses and Elias in front of the three disciples Peter, James and John.

        In 1934 Bernhard Hopp made the figurative wall paintings. The ship models below the pulpit also date from the 20th century. A flood mark from 1872 can be found on the brick building.
