With strategic foresight, the Türkenlouis recognized that the Palatinate War of Succession would not be decided on the Upper Rhine, but in the Netherlands. He had the region on the Upper Rhine secured by the Eppingen Line. Watchtowers served to observe enemy troops in places with a wide view. After the Second World War, Konrad Adenauer and Charles de Gaulle showed great political vision with the Franco-German friendship treaty as the basis for the reconciliation process of the "archenemies". The hiker enjoys the wide view of the landscape. Two large stainless steel mirrors in a baroque frame allow you to play with changing perspectives at the Altenberg vantage point.

The art object “Weitsicht” is brilliant. Two large stainless steel mirrors are mounted on rotating axes. Distorted mirrors pick up on war propaganda: spreading distorted images of the enemy in order to prepare the population for the war. If you stand close to the mirror, the distortion is hardly noticeable. Every further reflection increases the distortion, the image moves further and further away from reality. Art with a brain ......
