Located 3 km from Rochefort, Notre-Dame de Saint-Rémy Abbey is a Belgian Trappist abbey. Its monks have been brewing beer there since 1595! La Trappiste Rochefort (available in Rochefort 6, 8 and 10) is one of the five Trappist beers in Belgium.
Only the church can be visited. The brewery and the abbey are not open to the public, except for a spiritual retreat, upon written request.
The Saint-Remi Abbey of Rochefort was built in 1230. Home to a community of Trappist monks, it is located approximately three kilometers from Rochefort.
Officially the abbey is called "Notre-Dame de Saint-Rémy".
It was founded in 1230 as a women's monastery affiliated with the Order of Cistercians.
