Until 1870, the parish church of Stuivekenskerke stood in the hamlet of Oud-Stuivekens, now Onze-Lieve-Vrouwhoekje. During the First World War, Oud-Stuivekenskerke was an advanced position of the Belgian army. The old tower of the former parish church was used as a lookout post.

The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwhoekje consists of the chapel of Our Lady of Victory, the ruins of the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-ter Zege church tower, one demarcation pole, two memorial columns and 41 memorial stones for the regiments that participated in the Battle of the Yser of 18 until October 31, 1914.

During the First World War, Oud-Stuivekenskerke was a Belgian outpost. The front ran right through the middle of the municipality of Stuivekenskerke. The Belgians stopped the German advance by flooding the IJzer plain. Today, a memorial, including the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwhoekje, commemorates this.

In the immediate vicinity of the chapel you can still see the four-sided base of the late Gothic west tower (1572) of the Old Frauenkirche in Oud-Stuivekenskerke. The steeple is a holdover from the church that was demolished in the 1870s. As an advanced Belgian observation post, it was the target of numerous bombings during the First World War.

Today the domain Our Lady of the Corner consists of: -the chapel Our Lady-ter Zege (1925) -the rubble of / the restored base of the church tower -with an orientation table on top that indicates 35 important places from the war -2 larger monuments -41 memorial columns of regiments that took part in the battle of the Yser - a demarcation pole
