The pond in the Seeheimer grove between Schuldorf and Tannenbergstrasse gives the impression that it was created for recreational purposes. Joggers do their rounds, strollers stroll by. 80 to 90 ducks are waiting to be fed. But every 15 to 20 years the body of water, also known as the “duck pond”, becomes a rehabilitation case. So much sediment has settled on the ground over the years that it has to be dredged and removed. Because the pond's leisure function is just a pleasant side effect. Its real purpose is flood protection.
