After several other owners, most recently Count Basselet von la Rosée, the castle and the two court brands finally came into the possession of Duke Maximilian Joseph in Bavaria in 1834. His daughter Elisabeth, who later became Empress Elisabeth of Austria and Queen of Hungary (Sisi), spent her childhood here.
