Depending on which direction you are coming from, you will experience a gentle 3% grade downhill or uphill. It's a fairly pleasant climb to do because the slope is relatively easy. In the other direction, it is a beautiful descent that can be traversed quickly.

So you really do not realize that this is a pass - the slope is always moderate (about 3% coming from the north), beautifully shady in the forest it's even high and suddenly you're over it.

The next options for road bikes are relatively far to the west via Lucelle and to the east with the Challpass, which is a "real" but also very busy pass.
