The Reit is a nature reserve in the four and Marschlanden with a size of 48 hectares. In addition to the ponds, which are overgrown with water lilies, there is a large vegetation with reeds and a dense willow stock on the shore. The area is a sought-after breeding and resting place for many European song and migratory birds, who can find shelter as well as abundant food here.

The GOOD is so close. A nature reserve that is characterized by its migratory, song and wandering birds. Willow marshes and many water zones. Always have binoculars with you. Kingfishers are more likely to be found on the Goseelbe.

The nature reserve The Reit in the Vier- and Marschlanden lies at the confluence of the Dove and Gose Elbe and is therefore part of the Elbe river basin as part of the Elbe glacial valley.
A beautiful bike route through wonderful nature.

Animals (including storks, herons and other birds, snakes and frogs), lots of greenery and lots of tranquility make this area worthwhile. Note: The small paths through the Reit to the east of this position may be difficult for bicycles to pass (roots).

There is currently transit - we were there on March 12th. 24 there - closed due to frog migration. Since there is no proper signage, you may suddenly find yourself in front of the barrier and have to turn around and continue along the path over the Goose Elbe.

Path through the core of the Die Reit nature reserve from the dike on the regatta course to the NABU bird research station. I had to push about a third of the way because it was too muddy.

I once made a similar trip (Billwerder - Allermöhe - Reitbrook - Neuengamme) in connection with research into the causes of the Neuengamme disaster.
This also provides interesting perspectives.
A return trip across the wet meadows of Curslack is also enriching in this context.
