In the former quarry near Oberschroffen numerous "geological organs" have been built. This protected natural monument is one of the 100 most important geotopes in Bavaria. They were created by seepage water that loosened the lime from the rock. In individual places where the water was able to seep into the subsoil a little more easily due to increased porosity, for example, the process intensified, which further increased the porosity. Finally, he formed vertical solution tubes into which the resulting clay continuously sagged from above. Such weathering chimneys with a diameter of about half a meter were uncovered by the rock mining near Oberschroffen. Some of them are cut in half on the quarry wall and therefore look like organ pipes. Some tubes still contain their original clay filling, while others have already fallen out.
