Attention: uninsured dangerous climb! Solid shoes and ALPINE experience are required. The first kilometer in particular has fallen so far that you can often no longer see the way. Often a fallen tree has to be climbed over.

The old path starting from the Kessel towards Malerwinkel is not maintained! This means a combination of lots of leaves on the ground and rain increase the risk of making a wrong step. The path is not secured and is sometimes no longer visible.
This trail is for experienced hikers only and should not be recommended without warning!
I used the route myself on March 23, 24.

A 28-year-old woman from Munich slipped and fell over steep terrain into Lake Königssee on Friday. According to the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK), she was able to stay on the shore. According to police, a companion of the woman called emergency services and tried to reach the 28-year-old. The water rescue team rescued the seriously injured woman and then brought her companion back by boat. A helicopter then flew the 28-year-old to a hospital.
According to police, the eastern shore path is no longer being inspected for safety and condition and is not shown on current maps.
