The great Querfurt Castle is worth a visit whatever the weather. The complex with its two defiant towers, the mighty curtain walls, the castle chapel and the buildings of the castle courtyard is well preserved and also in great demand as a film set. If you like, you can take part in a castle tour, visit the museum and then let yourself be pampered in the castle café.

In a tithe register from Hersfeld Abbey between 881 and 899, Querfurt was first mentioned as a place subject to tithing, Curnfurt im Friesenfeld, and in a document from Emperor Otto II from 979 it was first titled castellum.
