In the Pegnitztal Ost recreation area, you can visit the Oberbürg castle ruins. “Oberbürg Castle through the ages” - the history of the walls from their construction to destruction to the present day is shown on the station board. In modern times the Oberbürg was considered one of the most magnificent mansions in Nuremberg and was destroyed in an air raid in 1943.

In early modern times, the Oberbürg was considered one of Nuremberg's most magnificent mansions. From the side it looks like a small castle. The builders had provided them with walls, a moat and two small flanking towers at the entrance. The castle was destroyed in an air raid in 1943, today it offers a neglected and vandalism-dominated sight.
