The ascent to the Gehrengrat is a steep, rocky path. Beautifully laid out, it's a bit of a challenge for inexperienced hikers. Once you reach the ridge, a completely new view opens up of the Lechquellen Mountains, including the imposing Rote Wand. With a bit of luck, you'll find a herd of ibexes at the rear of the ridge, or at least spot them somewhere nearby. The descent continues across alpine meadows.
