The most famous "black beach" in Iceland. Very beautiful, very crowded and very dangerous due to so-called “sneaker waves”. The latter are high waves that suddenly appear on the beach. Appropriate warning signs have been put up. Unfortunately, fatal accidents still occur again and again. In the summer of 2023, parking fees were introduced here, as in some other places, to direct the flow of tourists. This does not apply to cyclists. Ideally, you visit the beach early in the morning or late in the evening/at night. Warning: never turn your back on the sea!
