Beautiful refuge in a stone village which in the past was a shepherds' settlement. Not always open, but a visit to the town of Campocatino is always worthwhile. But remember that you will have to work hard to get there.
Rifugio Campocatino is located on the east side of the Apuan Alps. Next to the Refugio, where you can eat excellent cake or bruschetta, there are more stone houses up there.
It has a fantastic view down to the Lago di Vagli and the small town Vagli Sotto.
For this view alone, the fully paved driveway is worthwhile.
