The Temple of Ezra is dedicated to Khnum, the ram-headed creator god. The pronaos, the vestibule of the actual temple, is the only part of the temple that is still preserved. As inscriptions show, the deities Heka and Neith were also worshiped here.
According to legend, Khnum is the god who formed man from Nile mud on a potter's wheel. The temple was lost for centuries in the Nile mud.
