A very, very great tour, no, not a tour, a climbing tour and please not made for every inexperienced mountain tourist. You should have experience on the mountain, climb with belays, be sure-footed, have no fear of heights, be well conditioned and have a time and weather plan, then it's a pleasure. Recommendation is from Wimbachgries to the Watzmannhaus. Spend the night there and the next morning cross the Watzmann and descend from the south summit (takes a lot of time due to the scree) to the Wimbachgries hut. There we take a short rest and refreshment and continue through the Wimbachgries back to the Wimbachbrücke car park.
When the weather is great, the crossing is a dream, with an incredible view of the entire Alpine panorama and Lake Königssee, but this crossing is a real parade tour... but not without it, it's quite a house number. It is no longer just a via ferrata, as the mountain rescue service has removed some insurance policies so that inexperienced tourists are held back.
