Hita preserves its medieval old town, which was declared a historical site in 1965. Under Muslim rule, a fortress was established on top of the hill. The castle, the narrow streets and its walls are still the product of an ancient history of this pretty town! One of the most beautiful in the province!
The city of Hita is famous, among other things, for its impressive medieval festival, which takes place annually in July. Also noteworthy is the shape of the castle hill, which in Hita really flows almost perfectly conically at the top, where the castle used to be. Unfortunately, only the remains of the former walls can be seen today. A visit is still worthwhile - especially to watch the sunset.
Wonderful town to enjoy its medieval architecture and views. Recommended 100% There are numerous routes that connect with surrounding towns and the Mount of Tajás. For road enthusiasts, there is a very appealing stretch from Hita to Espinosa de Henares. We stayed there and spent a great weekend at the Casas de Valois, very special rural apartments with all kinds of details where you can relax in their SPA after the bike route !!
