The Ostenallee was created in 1764 at the instigation of the Major General von Wolffersdorff as a four-row avenue to better develop the parade ground. The linden trees along the avenue were planted in 1825.
In 1882, to the east of the parade ground, a brine bath with spa gardens, lodging and bathhouse was opened. Bad Hamm was opened in 1898 by the electric tram, which was of particular importance for the future development of the area around Ostenallee. The proximity to the city center, the traffic connection and the status of a quiet residential area in the countryside made the area into a noble district with representative buildings in the 1920s.
In 1922, the city provided the entire area south of the road as a building ground and opened it between Josef-Schlichter-Allee and Soester road (interrupted by the Ahsebrücke) with a separate road in front of the land, which was allowed to be driven only by the residents , The builders were all descended from the city's leading civic circles, emphasizing the exclusive location of the houses through the continuous concept of detached villa-style buildings.
The section of the service road between Josef-Schlichter-Allee and Ahseufer, separated by a row of trees on lawns of the Ostenallee, was popularly called "Schieberallee" after the Second World War.
