Apart from the beautiful station building from here you have various possibilities for nice bike rides. For one, the Ruhrtalradweg offers in both directions, on the other starts here the Springorum cycle path to Bochum center.

Dahlhausen station has existed in its current form since 1917. Previous buildings on the route from Essen-Steele to Hattingen and Herdecke had become too small. The reception building was decommissioned in 1979 and restored in Art Nouveau style in 1994.
In addition to S-Bahn trains, museum trains from the Ruhrtalbahn and the shuttle service to the railway museum stop in Dahlhausen.
