"We remember together" was the motto under which a border educational trail was officially opened in 2009 as part of a festival and commemoration week on the occasion of 20 years of opening of the inner-German border by the former border communities of Berka/Werra - Gerstungen and Wildeck.

It leads along the former inner-German border and ends at the house for border and local history. The stages of expansion of the former inner-German border are explained to the viewer through texts, data overviews and pictures in eight showcases and special boards. The inhumanity of this border and its impact on the lives of people on both sides are made clear. Remains of border barriers can be viewed in the area of the railway line.

The approx. 800m long border educational trail begins at the end of Wildeck-Obersuhl in the direction of Gerstungen and ends at the border museum on the guard.

The border trail Wildeck-Obersuhl - Gerstungen with its eight stations is freely accessible and can be visited all year round. Start at station 1 at the end of Obersuhl in the direction of Gerstungen, Schwarzer Weg car park.

Group tours (8 - 15 people) are possible by appointment.
