!!Attention!! The road from/to the Stettbacher Valley towards Steigerts has been closed for some time (since around the end of 2022). But you can still ride if you have pushed your bike through the barrier. There is NO construction site behind the barrier - the road is OK, no holes, no missing asphalt - no idea why it is completely closed. This is at your own risk and I do not want to incite you to break German laws.

In my opinion, the most beautiful driveway into the Odenwald is through the Stettbacher Valley, hardly any cars and the road surface is good for uphill riding: I would avoid the route downhill or drive slowly (under 30 km/h) due to the quality of the road.

Update: The road is still closed to vehicles. However, the roadblocks are now bicycle-friendly.

The roadworks were completed in late summer 2025. It's all new tarmac, super slick.
