It may be a bit of a challenge to speak of a true base camp at a 6000, but the Stok Kangri Basecamp definitely has everything it takes to feel like a real climber. Ice axes, kilometers of climbing ropes, crampons and matching shoes hang on the tent walls. In between, mountain guides whose faces have been tanned by the sun and who boast that they have stood on the Stok Kangri more than 300 times - that's why there are plenty of heroic stories to chew in the evening chai.
