As a rule, an open house will be held on May 1st and on the second Sunday in September of each year. Then you can look at the mill from the inside and buy freshly baked bread.

The Goldberg Mill
One of the oldest and most beautiful buildings in Mettmann is the Goldberg Mill.
This mill was first mentioned in documents around 1450 when Duke Gerhard pledged it to Knight Ulrich von Mentzingen. In 1541 Duke Wilhelm redeemed this pledge. He handed the farm over to his councilor and chancellor Johann Gogreve. In return, he had to pay 70 gold guilders annually to the Freedom of Mettmann.
In 1555 the Goldberg farm became the seat of a court of six farms.
In 1715 a new water wheel was built for the mill from four felled oak trees.
In 1771 the mill was given a slated mansard hip roof with dormer windows.
From 1880 to 1882 the tower with oven, which is still so distinctive today, was built. After a major fire in 1904 the farm burned down completely; however, the mill was spared. A few hundred meters to the east, the new Groß Goldberg estate was built. The Goldberg mill itself remained standing. 1944 Recommissioning: The damaged mill was replaced and put into operation. The mill thus made its contribution to feeding the population of Mettmann even in the difficult post-war period. In 1946, the mill was shut down again. In 1954, Count Schaesberg sold the mill to the town of Mettmann. It was then used as a residential building. However, the decline could not be stopped. Due to the increasingly poor quality of living, the last tenant family eventually moved out of the mill. From then on, it stood empty and fell into increasing disrepair. Source: mettmann.de/muehle

In 1989, committed Mettmann residents met to found a Goldberger Mühle initiative group, which still exists today under the name "Goldberger Mühle e.V. Mettmann". The purpose of the association is to maintain and use the Goldberger Mühle in Mettmann as a venue for cultural events and as a place for social meetings.
The most important goal, however, is to preserve the mill, first mentioned in 1450, as a historical monument that shapes the cityscape with an original grinding mechanism as a technical monument. In 1998, the city of Mettmann transferred the hereditary building right to the Goldberger Mühle to the mill association.
An extensive and spectacular renovation of the mill began.
Today, the Goldberger Mühle shines in new splendor. In the middle of the city forest with the Goldberger pond and hiking trails, it now serves various purposes.
The mill can be visited as a historical monument. With a certain museum character, however, it is also open for receptions, awards ceremonies, cultural events, meetings of clubs and groups, and family celebrations. The cellar vault can be used as a baking room, a wine bar, a party room, etc.
Opening hours
The Goldberger Mill can only be visited by prior appointment.
However, there are regular events (e.g. Open Monument Day) where you can visit the mill free of charge.

It is worth it .. Nice tour. To ride super pleasant with children. Very much sights. Of course I also recommend Kult Cafe and enjoy coffee with cake. Have fun while cycling
