Villers-la-Ville Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey of which some impressive ruins have been preserved. This historic and touristic landmark was founded in 1146 and was built around 1190-1267. It is one of the most complete sites in Europe and reflects 850 years of history and knowledge in all areas. The abbey offers a unique opportunity to discover the history of the Cistercian order and to enjoy the calm and serene environment.

In 1992, the abbey was classified as an exceptional heritage of Wallonia. The entire domain has been preserved, the 50,000 m 2 above-ground walls and the 5,000 m 2 Romanesque and Gothic vaults make it one of the largest archaeological complexes in Belgium.
