The Riepshof sheepfold - a architectural gem
The Riepshof farm sheep stable is well placed on the foothills of the Otterberg on a large meadow at the edge of the forest. However, the building has not always stood in this place.
The sheepfold was built in 1779. A very special construction of the wall structure, the pillar construction, was used for the construction. The screed construction is very demanding and guarantees high stability and strength of the building. This farm sheepfold is the last known building in the Harburg district, if not in northern Lower Saxony, which was built using this special construction method.
Because so much care has been put into the wall structure of this building, one can assume that it was probably not used exclusively as a sheep pen, but partly as storage.

Built almost 250 years ago. A great achievement by the builders at the time.
