The Manneken Pis in Bogense is a copy of the original statue in Brussels.

The little figure has a fascinating story: In the 19th century, an infant was found on the ferry from Klakring. Since none of the passengers would acknowledge the child, the butcher Levinsohn took care of the boy, and later the boy was adopted by Levonsohn's daughter. The boy, Willum Fønss, grew up in Bogense and after a few years abroad, was given the title of consul.

The consul was deeply grateful to Bogense, and on March 20, 1934, his daughter, Baroness Rosenkrantz, unveiled the little statue of Manneken, whose story can be compared to that of the consul.

At that time, the little naked boy was not popular with everyone in the city - and some would have gladly given him pants every day.
Nowadays, however, Manneken in Bogense is very popular with both locals and tourists.
On special occasions, Manneken Pis is dressed up.

The Manneken Pis in Bogense is a copy of the original statue in Brussels.

The story goes: In the 19th century, an infant was found on board a ferry from Klakring. The helmsman looked for the parents - but they did not come forward. Master butcher Levinsohn took the little boy in and later adopted him. Over the years, this boy became consul Willum Föns.

The story is not entirely true - in reality, the little boy was the butcher's grandson. His mother became pregnant out of wedlock and the baby was sent to live with his grandparents. But unlike some of the so-called bastards whose parents were not married, he still had a happy childhood and became a successful businessman and consul. He gave the city the Manneken Pis figure, as well as a sundial and a fountain with a golden apple.
