According to the only road document that has been handed down as Roman, “Itinerarium Antonini”, the ancient town of “Isinisca” is located in the municipality of Aying along the Roman road Via Julia, which is visible over long stretches from Augsburg via Kissing, Schöngeising, Gilching and Gauting. There are numerous finds and traces of settlement from the La Tène period, the Roman Empire and the early Middle Ages in the entire area from Aying to the southern neighboring communities and a Roman mile column with precise and appropriate distance information.
