Within the connecting channel from the Mittellandkanal to the line is the Leineabstiegsschleuse; it allows the descent from the MLK level to the level of the jammed line. The channel is now used only by passenger ships and pleasure boats, formerly served as a connection of the long-gone factories at the height of today's Ihme center.

The connecting channel to the line (VKL), formerly also leash channel or Leineabstiegskanal, connects the Mittellandkanal with the leash. He is a federal waterway, for which the Waterways and Shipping Authority Brunswick is responsible. In contrast to the other connecting channels of the Mittelland Canal (MLK), it does not branch off directly from the Mittelland Canal, but from the branch canal Hannover-Linden. Within the canal lies the Leineabstiegsschleuse; it allows the descent from the MLK level to the level of the jammed line. The channel is now used only by passenger ships and pleasure boats, formerly served as a connection of the long-gone factories at the height of today's Ihme center.
