Unfortunately, only the kiosk on the Czech side is still open.

The Sächsische Zeitung reported on December 28, 2021 that the restaurant on the Polish side should reopen in 2025.

According to a measurement with laser scanning from the air, the summit of the Giant Mountains Snezka is at an altitude of 1,603,296 meters above sea level. This trigonometric point lies on the summit of the Schneekoppe. In 1936 it was installed and firmly cemented into a compact rock.

The highest mountain in the Czech Republic. Beautiful view of the entire Giant Mountains, but too many visitors.

Sněžka (1,602 m.a.s.l.) is the highest peak in the Czech Republic. It has had its name since 1823. The peak provides an unobstructed circular view. The average temperature here is 0.2 degrees Celsius. The border with Poland passes through the peak of Sněžka. There are several buildings on the rocky peak, which is approximately 30 acres. On the Polish side, it is the oldest building of the chapel of St. Vavřince built in 1665-1681.

As the highest point in the Czech Republic, Sněžka is worth a visit. Good weather and clear visibility are gambling. A very nice start for a long hike, if you z. B. from Pec pod Snezkou (yes, the dashes over some letters are missing here). Shortening the first ascent via the cable car has its appeal and is anything but a crime! :-)

Up in April 2019 with the chairlift, then up to the Schneekoppe and in bright sunshine, a fantastic view, in the snow again the trail to Karpacz down. As others already describe, unfortunately a migration of peoples up at the Schneekoppe.

The meadow construction (Luční Bouda) reached the day before, there delicious dinner and then very early in the morning (at least 1 hour before sunrise) on Schlessierhaus to Schneekoppe hike and enjoy the sunrise in clear weather.
For the walk in the dark morning do not forget the headlamp! The path on the wooden planks above the moor is quite tricky in the dark.
