From the Hintersee in Ramsau the pass road follows the Klausbach in Klausbachtal 6.5 km, first flat, then steeper up to the pass. Gradients up to 30% are marked. The pass itself lies on a flat piece of road in the forest. On the south side, it also leads steeply through the Hintertal to Weissbach near Lofer. On the Bavarian side, the road is located in the Berchtesgaden National Park and is closed to private motor traffic. From May to October, an Alm adventure bus runs from both sides via the pass ..
