The Col de la Forclaz is a nice passage at an altitude of 1,527 m. Presence of a restaurant, an alpine snack bar and a small supermarket. Free access fountain to fill your gourds and bottles.
The pass is heavily frequented by motorized vehicles and is therefore not a real cycling highlight. The inclines are moderate on both sides and the long straights invite you to descend quickly.
Do not confuse it with the pass of the same name on Lac d'Annecy!
Good starting point for a hike with plenty of parking. The Mont de l'Arpille at 2085m with a beautiful view of the Rhone Valley is right next to it, or if you prefer something more leisurely, you can stroll a good 3 km down the bisse Trient-Combe to the Buvette du Glacier du Trient 👍🏻. Destinations that are further away, such as the "Col de Balme" mule pass at 2203m to Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in France, can also be easily reached from here.
