Schwiegershausen is a village in the southwestern Harz foothills and district of the former district town Osterode am Harz in the district of Göttingen in southern Lower Saxony, Germany.
First mention of the village Suidershusen is in the year 1263. At that time acquired the St. Jacobi monastery in Osterode for 7 marks of pure silver the Advocatie over the entire village Suidershusen, as well as the patronage right over the local church. Rights to the village at that time also claimed the Lords of Plesse, who thereby entered into a dispute with the monastery. This dispute was fleshed out in 1271, when Plesse renounced her patronage claims.
