      The path is a short detour from the normal hiking trail. It leads through a picturesque meadow with a small stream and ends at the grotto. The cave as such is just a hole in the mountain, but it still looks very mysterious.

                  Small cave not far from Ferme Frankental. This cave is not very big but it is damp. When I visited, a trickle even ran out of the rock face.

                    Access to the Grotte Dagobert / Passage vers la Grotte

                    The legend of the grotto in German:
                    In the 7th century, a king Dagobert was hunting bears with his entourage. When he realized that two of his people wanted to kill him in order to help his brother to the throne, he first fled to this cave.

                    It is also said that the cave served as a refuge for the monks and treasures of Munster Abbey during the Thirty Years' War.
