VERY IMPORTANT TIP: If you want to drive the Tremola (or in general the Gotthard up), you have to take the right turn down in Airolo. There are two (TWO!) Roads up to the Gotthard! The "Gotthard Pass" (green sign), which you should not drive, because on this road there is a lot of traffic MASSIV. I was there last Sunday, when I wanted to get 5-6 vehicles per minute, that's way too dangerous on a winding road, because they drive you dead. If there are 20km of traffic in front of the tunnel, many will drive over the pass (endless motorcade!). The "Gotthard Pass" from Airolo is something like a freeway with a highway character, sometimes even two lanes in one direction and the cars racing upwards at 80 to 100 km / h. Properly you do it like this: Search here on Komoot in zoom the "via San Gottardo", which meanders parallel to the Gotthard Pass up the mountain (this is the old Gotthard road). There is almost no traffic. Directly from Airolo you drive through the green meadows in a zigzag, is immaculately tarred. And then after 5 or 6 turns you come to the "via San Gottardo". There you turn 5-6 turns up, until at some point the turnoff to "Tremola", the old cobbled street comes. So you come without much traffic on the Gotthard.
