Service routes on the Dortmund-Ems Canal (near Waltrop-Oberwiese)

The paths across the canal are popular with walkers, hikers and cyclists alike. Whether as part of a local walk, an extensive hike or a recreational bike ride, the canal paths offer excursions beyond the streets with a great view of the water and green landscape alternating with buildings and courtyards.

Most of the sections of the service roads are easy to navigate with all bicycles and also invite cyclists who want to go outside by bike without steep inclines and declines.

There are also many ways for hikers to be included as part of a hike through the surrounding forests, fields and towns.

In the warmer season, the canal with its paths is also a popular destination for local recreation for families and, with its meadows and green strips, invites you to relax and sunbathe.
