For me, the visit was a real highlight. Where else do you find something like this? An abandoned racetrack left to nature. It's accessible by bike and easily reached via a cycle path. The Almarining can be easily incorporated into any Erzbahntrail tour as a short detour and is just a stone's throw from Holger's Erzbahntrail stand.
The asphalt of the old Alma racetrack is still in good condition. It's a wonderful place to cycle for a few laps.
It's a shame that it's frequently vandalized and the track is often littered with old car tires or campfire debris. Nevertheless, the area is always worth a visit and lets you experience the atmosphere of yesteryear ;-)
The Almaring is now a "lost place" that was used as a racetrack for amateur racing drivers until 1983.
Due to strong public protests caused by noise and exhaust fumes and/or the contaminated and therefore hazardous ground, the area was subsequently closed for these purposes.
Driving on the site is only possible to a limited extent due to numerous fallen trees on the former roadway.
