Before a church was built, Heelsum belonged to the kerspel (parish) Wolfheze. In 1425, however, Robertus van Dorenweert founded a chapel on the Holleweg south of the Oude Oosterbeekseweg. The Kapelleboom is a reminder of this. Around 1517 this chapel became a parish church and the construction of a church on the hill in Heelsum was started. Mr. van Doorwerth, contrary to the agreements, kept the church closed to Reformed people. [3] Only after the death of Prince Willem II (1650) did the church open to the reformed, after which restoration of the church began, which was partly paid for with the proceeds of the remainder of the church in Wolfheze. In 1978 four windows were installed in the church by pastor-glazier Piet Kok, later two by J. Kooijman were installed.
