The Mahlsack can be found a little off the forest roads, accessible via a footpath. It is a boundary stone where the boundaries of three forest areas meet: Goldkronach, Warmensteinach and Sophienthal.
The name arose from its shape, which is reminiscent of a set-up flour sack that was used to collect flour from the mills in the past. The jute sacks or linen sacks with which the grain was brought to the mill were too coarse for the flour to be picked up and not tight for the fine flour dust. There are several flour sack stones in the Fichtelgebirge, between Platte and Seehaus, on Schneeberg and on Ochsenkopf.

If you follow the hiking trail markings, you will be led right past here. The main path has been severely damaged by forestry work and is often muddy and wet!
Rest benches have been set up at the Revierstein.
