You can reach Steingrund by parking outside the car-free nature reserve in Oberhaverbeck or Niederhaverbeck and heading from there towards Wilsede. The path to the Grund is just before the town entrance. Of course, you can also come from the other side, from Undeloh or Döhle.

It is a good idea to combine Totengrund and Steingrund. At a high point, a narrow hiking trail leads along, from which you have great views of Steingrund. In any case, you should also walk or cycle a bit in the valley, because Steingrund is probably the most typical heathland area of Lüneburg Heath. Surrounded by ridges of around 40 m, you will find the heath classics here: heather, juniper, bee fences, a sheep barn and lots of boulders. Ideal photo subjects, especially when the heather is in bloom.
