In the border area between Bavaria and Austria, the European reserve "Unterer Inn" extends over around 5,500 hectares. In this nature and bird sanctuary, which is largely located in the Inn-Salzach region, there are untouched alluvial forests, rare plant and animal species and numerous migratory and water birds. Well over 200 species of birds find food sources and secure breeding opportunities here. Nature lovers can explore the reserve on bike and hiking trails. Two viewing platforms invite you to discover the unique diversity of birds in this region in all seasons. Even ospreys and sea eagles make their circles there.

The bird world is particularly impressive in autumn and winter: Great egrets, cormorants and grebes are guests here, but also lapwing, little ringed plover and mute swans can be spotted. In spring you can see common terns nesting.
