The water tower was built in 1934 on the edge of the village of Hohenkirchen. Architect was Fritz Höger. He had the water storage built in clinker construction. Inside, the tower is divided into 4 floors. In the fourth is the 180sqm water tank. An observation deck crowns the tower. Currently (July 2016) the tower is for sale !!! A visit or the ascent to the platform is not possible. Nevertheless, the trip is worthwhile, because the architecture is very unusual.

The Hohenkirchen water tower is a water tower built in 1934 on the south-western edge of Hohenkirchen in the municipality of Wangerland. The clinker building designed by Fritz Höger and made of Bockhorn clinker is Hohenkirchen's landmark.

The approximately 30 meter high water tower has a floor area of nine by nine meters and is externally divided into seven sections, each of which tapers towards the top. The deep foundation was made with 28 reinforced concrete piles with a length of ten meters and a diameter of 35.5 centimetres. Inside, the water tower has four floors. The internal water tank with a capacity of around 180 m³ of water was housed on the fourth floor. 146 steps lead to the upper viewing platform.

Attractions Architectural monument of North German brick expressionism.
Planned in 1934 after an architect competition by Fritz Höger, the water tower was supposed to improve the quality and quantity of drinking water in the wider surrounding area. In particular, the naval plant z .. in Schillig had to be adequately supplied. For the National Socialists, this was also a suitable propaganda tool ("memorial of our people by the sea") to combat unemployment and water shortages for many farms (such as dairies).
