It is recommended to first hike west of the mountain hut to the end of the ridge, because from here you can admire a magnificent view of Lake Thun and the surrounding towns as far as the Jura. You reach the Bugfeldstand, the highest point of the hike, via alpine meadows. If you are lucky, you will see an eagle or a bearded vulture on its reconnaissance flight or encounter chamois. The area of the ibex and ptarmigan stretches from the Burgfeldstand to the Gemmenalphorn. Flower lovers will find numerous mountain flowers here.
On one side you look down to Lake Thun and Interlaken, on the other side you have wonderful insights into the Justia Valley and over to Sigriswiller Rothorn.
