Straße des 17. Juni is part of the large east-west axis in Berlin and part of federal highways 2 and 5. The street is located in the districts of Tiergarten and Charlottenburg. It is dedicated to the commemoration of the popular uprising in the GDR in 1953. As a further memorial to German unity, a three meter long memorial was erected to the west of what was then the intersection of Straße des 17.June and Relief Street (today: Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße) near the Soviet Memorial immediately after the construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961 set up the Board of Trustees indivisible Germany.

Direct connection between Ernst-Reuther-Platz to the Brandenburg Gate. Although a busy road but there is in return also a useful bicycle strip. And last but not least, there are views of some of Berlin's most important sights, including the Victory Column and the Great Soviet War Memorial. Small detail: the row of lanterns left and right of the street dates back to the time of National Socialism and was designed by Albert Speer.
